Just a friendly notice that local accounts get attached (auto-created) when a user visits the site while logged in, not when they attempt to take an action. Your most recent block was a steward who was stopping by to better understand a recent block that got reported due to containing an expletive.

Apologies. I had previously done testing when the wiki opened to make sure that
a) Users could not create accounts
b) Going to termsofservice.wikitide.org when logged into an account (made on another wiki such as meta.miraheze.org) would not create an account
And both of these seemed to be true. From testing i've done, I have not had an account get auto-created when visiting the wiki, and due to me wanting the only accounts on the wiki to be from people who I've allowed to contribute to it, I tend to block accounts that I was not told would be joining the wiki.
In the future, I will make sure to implement a proper policy on when and why I block accounts. Users will be able to fill out a form detailing why they need an account on the wiki, and any that do not meet proper criteria (miraheze staff, comic contributors, etc.) will be blocked at the end of each month.

- Not a worry, thought it was probably just a matter that needed clarification. Stewards have an extra set of global rights that supercedes local settings to a degree including account creation settings, which is how this confusion started. Thank you for clarifying. Even though I have account creation permissions disabled for everyone, I've noticed people are still able to make accounts for the wiki. Is this a default mediawiki setting that breaks or gets overwritten on Miraheze or is There some way people are making accounts that I'm not aware of? TERMSOFSERVICE (talk) 13:35, 13 May 2024 (EDT)
